Sigma Theta Tau - Pi Pi Chapter

header underline

Sigma Theta Tau International is a nursing honor society that recognizes excellence in nursing, and whose vision is a global community of nurses who lead in scholarship, knowledge and technology to improve the health of the people of the world. Chapter Sigma Theta Tau International was founded in 1922 by six nursing students at Indiana University. Since that time it has grown to over 460 chapters world-wide, with over 405,000 members in more than 90 countries.

The vision of Sigma Theta Tau International is to create a global community of nurses who lead in the use of scholarship, knowledge, and technology to improve the health of the world’s people. Therefore, charters are granted to a petitioning group in recognition of excellence in the field.

After several years of working toward the goal of becoming a chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the charter for the Pi Pi Chapter at Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing was granted at the Sigma Theta Tau convention in November, 1999, and the Chartering Ceremony was held in April, 2000, inducting 131 Charter Members.

Pi Pi Chapter will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of our petitioning for chapter status and charting ceremony during the 2009-2010 academic year.
