About Sigma Theta Tau - Pi Pi Chapter

Sigma Theta Tau International was founded in 1922 by six nursing students at Indiana University. Since that time it has grown to over 400 chapters world-wide, with over 275,000 members in more than 80 countries.

The vision of Sigma Theta Tau International is to create a global community of nurses who lead in the use of scholarship, knowledge, and technology to improve the health of the world’s people. Therefore, charters are granted to a petitioning group in recognition of excellence in the field.

After several years of working toward the goal of becoming a chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, the charter for the Pi Pi Chapter at Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing was granted at the Sigma Theta Tau convention in November, 1999, and the Chartering Ceremony was held in April, 2000.
