Frequently Asked Questions

What is a BSN?

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is a 4-year college degree with a major in nursing. You have normal college credits, and will be prepared to take the national license exam to become a Registered Nurse, or to go to school for specialty fields or get a Master’s degree.

What is a clinical?

Clinical is the name for actual experience in a hospital or other health care agency. Many nursing courses have a “clinical component” which means time spent in different areas of the hospital learning how to directly care for patients. Don’t worry – you’ll learn the basics in the Skills Lab before trying it with actual patients!

How does the BRCN joint program work?

Blessing-Rieman has agreements with Quincy University and Culver-Stockton College to provide general education courses (math, science, English, etc.) at their schools, and Blessing-Rieman nursing faculty teach nursing courses and clinicals on our campus. Students are considered joint students of Blessing-Rieman and one of the partner schools. Currently, admissions and financial aid are packaged by the partner schools for Freshman and Sophomore students. Junior and Senior students receive financial aid packages from Blessing-Rieman. Graduation diplomas are granted and signed by both B-RCN and the partner you chose. Otherwise, you shouldn’t notice any difference in the joint program versus a single college. C-S and QU are both small private colleges, with benefits at each institution. The partnership just offers you flexibility in where you live, the financial aid available, and campus life you prefer.
