The Legacy Campaign
Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing has a history of over 110 years of excellence in nursing education – a legacy of providing professional nurses for generations past, present and future.
In Fall, 1999, the College unveiled it’s first ever capital campaign - The Legacy Campaign - with the goal to increase the scholarship endowments to $7 million. Only the interest on the endowment can be spent, and $7 million is approximately the amount needed to produce enough revenue each year to support financial aid requirements as enrollment increases.
Over the past several years, the national nursing shortage has increased the demand for professional nurses. Thanks to rising salaries and publicity, enrollments have begun to rise. As enrollments increase, so has the need for scholarships. Nurses provide a vital role in health care. Nurses are often the first health care provider patients come in contact with, and give direct patient care in every setting - from hospitals, nursing homes, physician’s offices, and home health, to clinics and health departments.

Education is the investment of a lifetime!
There is tremendous opportunity for students interested in a versatile nursing career. It’s also a challenge to the College to provide an affordable education while costs continually rise. The Illinois Board of Higher Education has states as one of its goals that "No Illinois citizen will be denied an opportunity for a college education because of financial need." We support that goal and offer financial aid to nearly every student for either academic achievement or financial need. To continue to provide scholarships to deserving students, the College must increase the restricted scholarship endowment to a level that will support student needs for the foreseeable future.
The funds are held by The Blessing Foundation, established in 1983, as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose purpose is to raise and manage funds for the benefit of Blessing Hospital and Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing.
Your tax deductible donations to B-RCN are lasting gifts with great benefits - including an education and career opportunity for students, and quality health care for people across the country as new nurses take their skills wherever they go! If you want to partner with us, please send a check to:
